The foundation stone for the second Coon Prairie church was laid on September 8, 1875, with the church first being used in 1878. The church was dedicated in 1884 and the spire was added in 1891. Easter Sunday 1909, the church was hit by lightning and destroyed by fire with only the stone walls remaining.
