Vosseteig Funeral Home — Westby |
The history of the Vosseteig Funeral Home dates back to 1898 when E.J. Sveen started the funeral home in Westby which bore his name. His sons continued to run the business until the firm was purchased by O.P. Anderson, and the name was changed to reflect new ownership. After his death, his son, Orrin, ran the business. In 1968, David L. Vosseteig purchased the funeral home and has continued to operate the business as the Vosseteig Funeral Home. In 1980, David's son, Jay, started assisting with funerals. In 1991, after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mortuary Science, Jay returned to the Vosseteig Funeral Home. Today Vosseteig Funeral Home owns and operates the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in DeSoto, Vosseteig Funeral in Gays Mills and the Henthorn Memorial Center in Viola.
