Unseth Bekkedal Block

When Martin Bekkedal built his bank on the corner of State and Main streets it opened with many other businesses within it’s walls. Anchored on west corner of the building was the Unseth Drug store and on the northeast corner, the Westby Post Office. Facing south in the middle of the building was the Unseth & Bratlie Department Store soon to be followed by the Pickwick Department Store that was a chain store. In the basement was the Opera Café with Westby’s Opera House on the second floor. Also on this floor were numerous offices. Real Estate and Insurance agents, Dentists and Attorneys have had their offices on this floor. Today Ole & Lena Kaffe Hus is where the Unseth Drug store was and Organic Valley uses the three floors that was once the bank and the numerous other offices.
